Caring for Pets While You Travel

Caring for pets while you travel, Pets and travel, Pet Care, Dog lovers, cat lovers, animal lovers, golden retriever, pet sitter, pet sitting

Every pet owner knows that being responsible for a four-legged friend doesn’t make for the most flexible of lifestyles. However, thanks to Rover.com, that doesn’t always have to be the case. Rover.com is the pet-sitting service that should be an essential resource in your pet care toolkit. It takes so many of the stresses, scheduling roadblocks, and “I wish I could but…” excuses out of your pet-owning repertoire, especially when it comes to caring for pets while you travel. There aren’t enough paws to count all the ways that Rover makes life easier for parents of furry friends, but we’re sure going to try.

The basics
A huge aspect of what Rover does is in-home pet sitting. Going away for the weekend? Drop your pup or kitty off with one of Rover’s incredibly well-vetted and experienced sitters. The site makes it easy to source a sitter with the right experience to care for your unique furry friend (hello, detailed and easy-to-read sitter bios!). You can easily get in touch with a sitter who’s available during your chosen calendar dates, and not only ask them questions about their experience, but set up time for a meet-and-greet to see if it’s a good fit with your pet’s personality and needs. Sitter bios also feature testimonials from former clients that are familiar with that sitter’s care, skill, and experience, which gives you a great idea of how quickly they’ll be able to jump in and provide great care for your pet.

Another option, if you’re not comfortable with your pet leaving your home, is to have sitters stay at your residence. That way your pet doesn’t have to adjust to a new environment or routine that’s foreign to them.

Drop-in care
Even when you’re not out of town, being away from home; whether you’re at work, out with friends, or running errands, can be hard when you leave pets at home. Luckily, Rover sitters also provide drop-in visits and daycare. The services range from simply dropping in and taking Fido for a walk, to a few hours of just being there to keep your pet company — a great option for animals that suffer from separation anxiety.

Rover on the road? Yes, it’s possible!
For those trips when you prefer not to leave your pets at home, Rover still has your back. Rover sitters are available in over 10,000 cities across the US. Meaning that, if you’re across the country visiting family with your pup in tow and the whole crew is going out to dinner or to an event, all you have to do is look on Rover.com for a sitter who can care for your pet while you’re away.

Why should you check out Rover.com?
Because Rover.com is a travel and pet care game-changer. No matter where you’re going or what your needs are, there’s a Rover sitter who can make sure your four-legged friends are taken care of. Talk about stress free travel!

I love the idea of in-home pet sitting! When we travel, our grown son usually keeps our dog, but this is a great alternative when he’s not available.

I love this idea! I only have cats, and luckily we live by family now, but when we didn’t, it could be stressful finding people to care for them when we went away.

This is definitely something that was a need that was filled! We always struggle with trying to find someone to take care of her dog. This is a great way to solve that!

We don’t travel often but on the rare occasions we all do, the issue of who is caring for the dog is always a big one. I have found it much easier for the dog to have him cared for in our home.

Oh, this sounds perfect! I hated having our dog boarded at the groomer. I knew she was stuck in a cage until we returned and it bothered me the entire vacation! I will definitely look into this service!

I have never taken my furbabies with me on a trip but I certainly should! I know it’s a possibility but I’m so nervous to try it out.

This would be great for my mother in law. She’s refused to come visit us in Colorado because of her dogs.

This reminds me of the the summer vacation we had to cancel few years ago because the owner of the kennel where we booked our dog had an emergency and had to cancel our dog’s appointment. Thanks for sharing this, this is SO helpful!

It’s so important to take care of your animals while away. We have someone come to our house and stay with our dogs. They get too nervous when we’ve had them stay someplace else!
